Weave Types
Plain weave mesh details
Plain Weave

It is composed of interwoven warp and weft wires of the same diameter. It is woven by alternating the warp wire over and under the weft wire.

Twill weave mesh details
Twill Weave

Each warp wire passes alternately over and under 2 weft wires, and each weft wire passes alternately over and under 2 warp wires. The warp wire and weft wire are in the same diameter.

Plain dutch weave details
Plain Dutch Weave

Each warp wire passes alternately over and under every weft wire and forms into a 90° angle. The warp wire and weft wire are not in the same diameter, generally, weft wires are denser than warp wires and the diameter of warp wire is larger than the weft wire.

Twill dutch weave details
Twill Dutch Weave

Each warp wire passes alternately over and under 2 weft wires, and each weft wire passes alternately over and under 2 warp wires. The warp wire and weft wire are not in the same diameter, and the diameter of warp wire is larger than the weft wire.

Reversed plain dutch weave mesh details
Reversed Plain Dutch Weave

The diameter of warp wire is smaller than the weft wire. Each warp wire passes alternately over and under every weft wire and forms into a 90° angle.

Reversed twill dutch weave mesh details
Reversed Twill Dutch Weave

The diameter of warp wire is smaller than the weft wire. Each warp wire passes alternately over and under 2 weft wires, and each weft wire passes alternately over and under 2 warp wires.

5-heddle weave details
5-Heddle Weave

Every warp wire alternately up and down each single and four weft wires. Each weft wire alternately up and down each single and four warp wires.

Dimensions
Plain weave mesh with text markups
  • Mesh count: The number of openings per linear inch.
  • Mesh opening (W): It refers to the hole size. Typically measured in inches, it's the distance between the two closest parallel wires.
  • Pitch (P): The distance between the middle point of two adjacent wires or the sum of the mesh opening (W) and the wire diameter (D).
  • Warp wires: All wires running lengthwise of the cloth as woven.
  • Weft wires: All wires running across the cloth as woven.
Others
  • Open area: The ratio of area of the mesh opening to the area of the mesh expressed in percentage terms.
  • Nominal filter rating: Wire mesh with a nominal filter rating has a retention between 60% to 90%.
  • Absolute filter rating: Mesh with an absolute filter rating has a retention of nearly 100% (ranging from 99.7% to 99.99%).
  • Alloy: A substance with metallic properties that is synthesized by a certain method from two or more metals or metals and non-metals.
